unable to get appointment

To get a letter telling you to contact your GP as a mass has shown up on an MRI, you ring at 8am and 45 mins later you get told there are no appointments and to use Push doctor which is not an option for me. Call in to the surgery to talk with reception staff who recognised that I had a red flag on my file re the recent test. They did give me the push doctor help line to see if I could solve the problem but push doctor still said that it was not compatable with my device. The only option is to call again the following morning which I did and 25 minutes later I did get an phone appt. Why is there way that you can have an appointment when the surgery has asked you to contact them.
